Simon – managing his life with cancer with ByYourSide

My name is Simon Grigg. I'm rector of St. Paul's Church here in Covent Garden, sometimes called the Actors' Church, and I've been a rector here for 13 years. I was diagnosed in the summer of 2017, but it's a bit before the diagnosis which is the scary bit because you don't quite know what the outcome is going to be. When you get a diagnosis like cancer, because it's such a big word, such a big thing to process, immediately, you've got a thousand and one questions and then nothing comes out because you can't really think about it.
Having the time at leisure to think, I wish I'd asked about that, when you've got time to process that, I think that can be very useful. Again, coming on an app means that if it pops into your head at the strange moment, Yes, I can do that rather than writing it down. By the same token, noting down the answers because doctors today, which is a good thing, tend to give you lots and lots of information, but again it can be quite hard to process in one go. I think having something like ByYourSide, one sort of easy app to to hold with you, I think can be a real help.
